Cryptocurrency risk

Price movement. Bitcoin can rise or fall sharply over short periods and you may lose everything you put in. Nothing here forecasts prices or promises returns.
No protection scheme. Cryptocurrency is not covered by deposit guarantees. Platforms have failed, been breached and disappeared.
Keys are ownership. Lose a recovery phrase and the assets are gone permanently; let someone else obtain it and they are gone immediately. Neither situation has a recovery process.
Rules change. Regulation of cryptocurrency is in continual flux and can affect your ability to hold, trade or withdraw.

Risks specific to bitcoin ATMs

Transfers cannot be reversed. Once confirmed by the network, no institution can undo it. A wrong address, or one belonging to someone else, means the funds are unrecoverable.
Cash cannot be returned. Almost no machine offers a cancel-and-refund once notes are inside.
Cost is far above an exchange. Beyond the posted fee sits an exchange rate margin, and together they usually exceed what people expect.
Heavily used for fraud. Impersonation scams routinely use these machines as the collection point. No government agency, police force, court, tax office, utility, courier or legitimate business will ever ask you to pay through a bitcoin ATM.
Physical risks around the machine, including covered QR codes, fake support details and strangers offering to help.

About the figures here

Fees, limits and verification requirements appear as ranges with the month they were checked. They move with operator, region and time, and what is on the screen in front of you and what the operator states are authoritative.
Worked examples use assumed figures to demonstrate a method. They are not records of real transactions.
Market prices in the tools are fetched from a public endpoint for reference, with manual entry when unavailable. No page here contains a static number presented as a live price.
Protocol-level facts, such as a block roughly every ten minutes and transfers being irreversible, are stated directly because they don't vary by time or place.

What the tools are

Everything runs locally in your browser, and results follow entirely from what you enter. They perform arithmetic and conditional logic — they are not professional assessments of any machine, transaction or situation.

In particular, the checklist counts how many known warning signs you have selected. It does not determine that any situation is fraud. That requires facts and evidence and is a matter for law enforcement.
